There are many technology tools, free and paid, that align to Common Core Standards. IXL is free to try, offers immediate feedback, personalization, accessibility, and utilized by grades Pre-K-12 in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies (commonsense.org, 2020). Newsela is an online tool for grades 2-12 that has a free subscription, but for full content, one must pay. The subjects and skills covered are critical thinking, English Language Arts, and Social Studies, and it offers personalization, accessibility, and assessment features (commonsense.org, 2020). Move This World is built for grades Pre-K-12 with a focus on Arts, Character & SEL, Communication & Collaboration, as well as Health & Wellness (commonsense.org, 2020).
Shake Up Learning is a website and blog offering technology resources for teacher classrooms. It has instructions on how to utilize Google Classroom, Google for Education, and other Google tools. After perusing the Shake Up Learning website, I chose three tools to highlight, Pear Deck, Kahoot, and Lumio. Pear Deck is an instructional tool offering ISTE aligned digital citizenship curriculum as well as critical thinking slides, and it is an active learning and formative assessment tool (Bell, 2023). If you want an interactive presentation, Pear Deck is the tool for you. Kahoot is a tool for creating game-based learning and trivia which is free for teachers (Bell, 2023). Teachers may use Kahoot to assess students as well as collaborate with students. Lumio is a tool used with existing PDF’s, Google Slides, PowerPoint, and Notebook files. Lumio spices up an existing lesson, and it turns it into an active, collaborative learning event (Bell, 2023). Shake Up Learning has much more content to view, and it is worth taking a look.
